As we mark the 20th anniversary of the devastating Indian Ocean Tsunami that struck several ASEAN countries on 26 December 2004, we take a moment to reflect on how far we've come.
Over the years, ASEAN has strengthened its disaster management and resilience efforts through quick response, regional collaboration, international cooperation, and community-driven preparedness.
On 25 October 2024, the 12th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Management and a commemorative event for the 20th Year of the Indian Ocean Tsunami were held in Brunei Darussalam.
